Scott has received numerous nominations since 2001 (over 15 and counting, including: Blues Songwriter of the Year, Blues Musician Deserving Wider Recognition, Blues Band Deserving Wider Recognition, Rock Band Deserving Wider Recognition) for Mid-Michigan's Review Magazine Awards (biggest music award show North of Detroit).
The Universal Expressions as a whole were nominated for 11 Review Awards in 2007, picking up three awards including Band of the Year and Band Deserving Wider Recognition (blues category). They were nominated five times in 2008 and twice in 2009, winning Duo Of The Year (Baker and bassist Pete Socha). Drummer Timmy Scott has scooped a group award in the past and has been nominated over the years.
